Budget and Key Factors

When a company decides to close out December with a drone show, one question comes up very quickly: how much will it cost? For corporate Christmas events, the answer doesn’t come from a price list, because every aerial choreography is built to order. What you can know from the start is what shapes your budget. Have you ever wondered what makes two shows of the same length so different?

Why don’t all drone shows cost the same?

A drone show is more like a creative production than a catalog product. Behind each shape are design, 3D animation, logistics, and an on-site technical team. That’s why a simple Christmas message for your team and a major brand story require very different processes.

So what factors should you review before building your budget?

5 factors that shape your drone show budget

1. The number of drones

This is the most influential factor. Think of it as a screen’s resolution: more drones mean more detail and fluidity. Between 100 and 200 drones work well for small corporate events, with stylized logos and clear text. Between 300 and 500 are ideal for larger company celebrations, and beyond that we’re into massive shows. For reference, BAC filled the sky over San José with 420 drones for its 2024 Christmas show.

2. The complexity of the animation

With the same number of drones, five alternating shapes take less work than a story with twenty scenes and animated transitions. At Christmas, for example, forming a star and your logo is not the same as telling a story with moving characters. Duration counts too: a standard show lasts between 8 and 12 minutes, and a longer one involves greater logistical complexity. Does your message need many scenes, or one well-told idea?

3. Location and logistics

An event in an easily accessible city doesn’t require the same as a remote location, where transportation and travel expenses for the team may be added. The type of setup also matters: drones need a clear area for takeoff and landing, and preparing a flight in a garden is not the same as on a beach or a ship.

4. The level of customization

You can start from elements and styles in our library or create a fully custom project with our creative directors. Our team can walk you through which path best suits your event.

5. Venue permits

Standard processing with the AFAC is part of our service. However, some areas, such as those near an airport, protected natural areas, or archaeological zones, may require additional studies. That’s why it’s best to review the venue from the beginning.

What does a professional drone show include?

When comparing proposals, look at what’s covered, not just the total. A professional service from AiON includes:
